About the Author

My Background

I am a DC-native and an LA-resident who received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology from Spelman College and Antioch University.  In junior high school, I was introduced to the poetry, anthologies, novels, and essays of African-American authors.  My love for reading their stories continued into adulthood and eventually grew into a passion for writing my own stories.

My Book

This is my first novel.  The idea to write The Ntosos' Pledge formed while I was reading about the Adinkra symbols.  My book tells the story of Akoma (The Heart), a fictional country that has existed for hundreds of generations, and is now growing into a popular tourist destination.  A group of Westerners visit Akoma with different motive

This is my first novel.  The idea to write The Ntosos' Pledge formed while I was reading about the Adinkra symbols.  My book tells the story of Akoma (The Heart), a fictional country that has existed for hundreds of generations, and is now growing into a popular tourist destination.  A group of Westerners visit Akoma with different motives, which locals quickly become privy to.  When some visitors test societal boundaries, Akoma faces these challenges and solves them using cooperative principles.  The stories in this book offer many lessons, such as the importance of personal development and collective coexistence.

My "Why"

The activity of writing is one of my forms of release.  I have used it to process daily experiences - both ideal and nonideal.  Regardless of how these experiences are resolved, I find myself in a place where I must choose what perspective I want to have about any given situation.  And, that perspective is always one of gratitude.  We may

The activity of writing is one of my forms of release.  I have used it to process daily experiences - both ideal and nonideal.  Regardless of how these experiences are resolved, I find myself in a place where I must choose what perspective I want to have about any given situation.  And, that perspective is always one of gratitude.  We may experience life events differently, but we experience emotions similarly.  I write my stories to inspire sincere appreciation for our CREATOR and to encourage others to remain faithful in our CREATOR.  My intention is to share content that promotes the overall well-being of individuals and communities.
